I have my tobacco on order, should be with me shortly.
Plan is to divide each 50g sort to 2x25g and make one in heated ethanol and another in pure PG with hot start.

What amount of ethanol would you suggest per 25gramm of tobacco for heated ethanol extraction?
What amount of PG would you suggest per 25gramm of tobacco for cold(6 months) PG extraction?

I suggest about 150ml of either solvent. However more may be necessary depending on the shape of the jars:
Is suggest using the tall profile 6oz mason Jars. There are some profiles that are square shaped but they do not works as well.

From my experience, I found that the amount of extraction solvent used relative to the amount of tobacco is more of an art than a science.

For example, I've used an oriental tobacco that is a much greater volume than say a latakia. So for the same weight, that oriental is going to take up a lot more space.

For me in the beginning, there was a tendency to want to cram a jar with tobacco to get the most flavor, but really that prevents circulation of the solvent and makes it difficult to filter.

I've developed a method that works well for me. I start by filling the mason jar with 2/3 tobacco and then filling with extraction solvent until there is about an inch from the top. I let this sit a day or two so the leaves can expand.

I then stir the leaves with a stirring rod (in my case long stainless steel tweezers). The goal is to have as much tobacco as possible in the jar while allowing the stirring rod to move without resistance. If the stirring rod is difficult to move, then my thought is that the solvent won't be able to move freely.

I add leaves or solvent until I have the desired consistency and I reach about half an inch from the top of the jar. I leave a little space from the top because it allows me to open and close the jar more easily without making a huge mess. I still end up having to wipe the mason jar lids when I open them to ensure that there is a tight seal when I close them later.

Peter Ramish advises a hot bump of PG extraction, I forget the temperature offhand, but he does it for 8 hours. Followed by shelving for 6 months up to 1 year (cigars and cigar leafs tend to take a year to develop full flavor profile).
